Kiko Loureiro in Bangkok: When Guitar Legends Inspire the Next Generation

Last Saturday, August 22, Bangkok had the opportunity to welcome one of the most influential guitarists of his generation. Kiko Loureiro was in the Thai capital for a very special show presented by D'Addario, the strings he uses as he continues taking his music around the world. For any guitarist, having the chance to see a musician with such an incredible career perform live is already something special, but for the Litejam team, this particular evening meant even more. Litejam was created with a very simple idea at its heart: inspiring people to fall in love with the guitar, keep learning, and discover where music can take them. Watching a guitarist who has spent decades doing exactly that made this a moment we couldn't miss.

Of course, many people around the world first discovered Kiko through his years with Megadeth, where he became part of one of the most important chapters in modern metal guitar. But his career goes far beyond that. From his work with Angra to his extensive solo career and countless performances, collaborations and educational projects, Kiko has built a reputation as a musician who combines extraordinary technical ability with a genuine passion for sharing music. That's one of the things that makes seeing a guitarist like him in person so inspiring: behind all the years of experience and international stages, there's still a musician who is deeply curious, engaged with other players, and excited to talk about the instrument he has dedicated his life to.

The Litejam team was fortunate enough to spend some time with Kiko during his visit to Bangkok, and the experience was everything we could have hoped for. Despite his status as one of the most recognizable names in guitar, he was incredibly approachable and generous with his time. There were so many guitarists around who had followed his career for years, some of whom had traveled specifically for the opportunity to meet him, and Kiko took the time to answer questions, share advice, talk about music and simply connect with the people who were there. That kind of interaction is something we always appreciate at Litejam events because it reminds us that the guitar community is about much more than technique or equipment—it's about people, inspiration and the stories that bring musicians together.

We were also lucky enough to experience the show itself, surrounded by guitarists who had come together because of their passion for music. Seeing Kiko perform in Bangkok was a reminder of just how far a guitar can take someone. A musician can start by learning a few chords in their bedroom, become obsessed with improving, join a band, travel to another country, play in front of thousands of people and eventually inspire an entirely new generation of players. That journey is one of the reasons Litejam exists. We want to make those first steps into guitar more exciting and accessible, whether someone dreams of becoming a professional musician or simply wants to learn their favorite songs after school or work.

That's also why we wanted to give Kiko something from the Litejam family. After watching his performance and spending time with him, Alex had the opportunity to present him with one of our classic Litejam guitars. We thought it would be a fitting gesture: a guitar created to inspire new musicians, given to someone who has spent decades inspiring guitarists himself. But what happened next was even better than we expected. When Alex handed him the guitar, Kiko revealed that he had already seen some of our videos and had been curious about Litejam for some time. So this wasn't simply an introduction to something he'd never heard of—it was finally a chance for him to get his hands on the instrument and see what Litejam was all about for himself. That reaction was one of our favorite parts of the entire experience. Even after decades of playing at the highest level, traveling around the world and experiencing practically every side of the guitar industry, Kiko still showed that same curiosity that makes musicians continue evolving. There's something incredibly inspiring about seeing a guitarist of his level interested in new ideas and technologies rather than simply staying with what he already knows. The world of guitar is constantly changing, and we're excited to be a small part of that evolution, creating tools that can help musicians approach the instrument from a different perspective.

For us, giving Kiko a Litejam wasn't about expecting anything in return. It was simply our way of saying thank you to someone who has contributed so much to the global guitar community. We don't know what he'll eventually do with the guitar, whether he'll spend time exploring the illuminated fretboard, experiment with some of the learning features, or simply pick it up and play it in his own way. And honestly, that's part of the fun. We're just excited that Litejam has now made its way into the hands of another musician whose career has inspired millions of people around the world.

Moments like this are exactly why we love what we're doing.
